Reduce the impact of tinnitus or sound intolerance on your life

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy based treatment for Tinnitus, Sound Sensitivity or Dizziness

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has been shown to improve quality of life and reduce distress associated with tinnitus awareness. This service is unfortunately not available in most NHS audiology departments. CBT can also help dizzy sufferers overcome a fear of going out or undertaking physical tasks and those with sound sensitivity such as Misophonia or hyperacusis desensitise to problem sound.

Our Specialist Audiologist, Bev Herne, combines her audiology knowledge with specialist training in CBT to tailor therapy to you and your specific situation. Sessions can be conducted in clinic or remotely via Teams.

Initial assessment will cover your experience of tinnitus or sound sensitivity, how it is impacting on your lifestyle, mood and wellbeing and what your goals are for management. Treatment packages then generally encompass 4 to 6 hour long sessions where you will learn how to change your reactions to tinnitus or external problem sounds so that they are no longer the focus of your attention and having a negative impact on your life.

What our client’s say:

“I contacted Bev specifically around misophonia. This is not something that many people specialise in but Bev is the real expert. The sessions, guidance, advice, follow ups and documentation are extremely helpful and I am happy to say I cope a lot better now with the support of Bev.” (ML)
